This year Chris has been training hard (6000km and counting) to compete in the The Transcontinental Race (TCR), an annual, entirely self-supported, ultra distance cycling race acrossEurope– and one of the world’s toughest ultra-endurance races. Over 1000 riders typically apply for 300 places allocated through a rigorous vetting system each year.
TCR No7 race, starting 27th July 2019, runs 4100km from Bourgason the Black Sea to Brest in France, through the iconic climb of Alp D’Huez in France and several other mountain passes. Riders race each other and race for a time. This is not a stage race. The clock doesn’t stop ticking until the finishers ride into Brest in 9 to 15 days – after climbing the equivalent of Mt Everest five times.
